SMS 21st Century CLS Hosts Parenting University Workshops

The Soehl Middle School 21st Century Community Learning Center organizes monthly Parenting University Workshops for their participants and family members. All parents were surveyed at the beginning of the year and asked what topics they wish to discuss at the workshops. The 21st Century Social Workers develop family friendly activities and lessons in response to the topics that generated the most interest.

SMS 21st Century Participants Visit Linden Airport

Soehl Middle School 21st Century Community Learning Center participants recently visited the Linden Airport. Students received a guided tour of the airport and learned about careers in aviation. They also had an opportunity to speak with a news reporter and view their helicopter. Pictured (l to r) are Jamar Green and Joshua Hans.

LINDEN — Justyna Kepa received the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) Outstanding High School Senior in German Award. Kepa is a student of Mary Turbett at Linden High School in Linden.

School #6 Hosts “Springing Into Success” Party

The School No. 6 “Springing into Success” parent party was successfully held during the Parent/Teacher Conferences. Parents were invited to stop by and answer sample problems for Grades 3 to 5 in Language Arts and Math. They were able to work with an iPad2 or play a game of Scrabble with their children. LHS Senior Signs Letter of Intent to Attend Lakeland College

Linden High School’s Principal, Dr. Danny Robertozzi, Head Boy’s Varsity Basketball Coach Phil Colicchio, and Assistant Basketball Coach, Anthony Drejaj proudly announce that LHS senior Marcus Fleming has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Lakeland College in Kirtland Ohio. Marcus was the starting point guard for the Tigers this past season and helped lead the Tigers into the NJSIAA playoffs.

Friends Beyond Borders Hosts Cultural Event

Members of Friends Beyond Borders hosted a public screening of the documentary “Precious Knowledge” in the Linden High School Auditorium last Friday. The students pictured enriched the event by sharing original poetry related to the theme of cultural identity, while Mr. LaMastra led a post-viewing discussion on culturally responsive pedagogy.
