Sonia Armstead-Pittman won grand prize at last week’s chili cook-off at School No. 1, defending the title she won last year.

Teacher Shannon Spaziani was first runner-up, parent Latasha Cavezza was second, and teacher Dominick Tripodi was third at the Jan. 11 event. Visitors got to taste all the competitors’ delicious recipes, then cast a vote for their favorite.

While the adults were enjoying the chili in the cafeteria, there were activities set up for the children in the gym, including Scrabble, music and dancing, laptops set up with keyboarding and coding games, science experiments, and more.

The event was sponsored by the Linden Education Association as well as Families and Schools Together (FAST), and featured activities in the gym for students who attended.
