The Linden High School girls volleyball team is hosting its annual Pink Out match on Oct. 24. The match raises awareness and funds to help battle breast cancer.

The team raised $1,500 in last year’s effort.

“Our Pink Out is an extremely important event to us at Linden High School,” said volleyball head coach Marissa DelloRusso. “We are trying to bring awareness to breast cancer, all while raising funds for breast cancer research. Since breast cancer is so prevalent in today’s society and early detection is vital to improving survival rates, the girls volleyball team is trying to make a difference in our school and community by spreading its awareness.”

The team is selling T-shirts until Friday, Oct. 12. Email mdellorusso@lindenps.org to place an order. All proceeds go to the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

Before the team’s match with Elizabeth High School on Oct. 26, breast cancer survivors will be honored. The gym will be decorated in pink, and fans will be encouraged to donate.
