As part of national Dads Take Your Child to School Day, School No. 2 in Linden held its first “Walk and Talk With Dad,” event on Tuesday. The event gave fathers a chance to play with their kids outside, before bringing them in for breakfast and dropping them off at class. And it gave the school the chance to thank them for all their work and to let them know they matter, too. Principal Atiya Perkins was “delighted” to announce that more than 300 fathers attended the event. Learn more about this emotional and inspiring morning at ... See MoreSee Less

The Peer Leadership program at Linden High School got off to a great start as seniors attended a three-day, two-night retreat at YMCA Camp Ralph Mason in Blairstown. The retreat provided students with the opportunity to engage in intensive communication, leadership and team-building activities away from daily distractions. From Sunday, Sept. 10, through Tuesday, Sept. 12, 23 seniors led by faculty members Sarah Edvalson, Mark Radil, Patricia Donegan and Patricia Gergely worked with students on activities that brought groups of virtual strangers together into teams that will work as mentors to freshmen at Linden High School.

Peer Leadership has been part of the senior curriculum for more than 25 years. Seniors are trained to lead freshmen through activities that help them to transition to high school. Through the program, seniors develop valuable real-life skills, and freshmen gain a sense of belonging and acceptance at their new school. Hundreds of former students would attest it is one of the best experiences they had in high school and this year’s seniors are ready to carry on the legacy!
