School health services are provided to foster the personal development, health and growth of students and to detect and help correct any health conditions which prevent optimum learning and development.  Two full-time school nurses and several part-time physicians perform physical examinations, vision and hearing tests and tuberculosis and scoliosis screening.  The nurses are available to counsel and assist student with health problems.
The Board of Education requires evidence of immunization for measles, rubella, polio, mumps, diphtheria and tetanus.  Boosters for diphtheria and tetanus are required every ten years.
The cooperation of students is needed in reporting to the health office when requested for health examinations.

Health Office Regulations
1.  A health office pass issued by the classroom teacher is necessary for admittance to the health office except      an emergency.  Students will be escorted to the nurse by a hall monitor.
2.  Injuries other than those received on school property or during school activities should not be referred to
      the school nurse for treatment.
3.  Doctor's notes must be presented to the appropriate vice principal upon the student's return to school.
4.  Students requesting an excuse from school for a medical or dental appointment are referred to the main      office.
5.  If, in the professional opinion of the school nurse, it is necessary for a student to be excused to go home
because of illness, the nurse will give the student a pass which must be shown to the classroom teacher            and eft in the health office.  No student will be excused from school without permission of a parent or
guradian. Disciplinary action will be taken if a student leaves the building without the nurse's authorization.
6.  Students should not bring medication to school unless prescribed by a physician and it is absolutely
necessary to take the medication when in school.  Written requests from the parent or guardian and the
physician are submitted to the nurse.  The medication, in its original container, is left in the health office at       the beginning of the school day and the nurse administers it at the proper time.
