Welcome to School No. 2 Elementary School, a great place to learn.  The entire faculty, staff, and administration pride ourselves on being change agents for our current leaders of today. Our ultimate goal is to teach each student to develop skills that will enable them to be fully functioning and diversely educated individuals in the 21st century.  We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe learning environment for all students by being vigilant at all times. Together, we provide students with a positive, caring school climate and culture that enables them to blossom intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Our Multi-Cultural night, where the entire school community expresses their diversity through song, dance, reading materials and food tasting draws in over 300 families.  At School No. 2, we celebrate our diversity of the 650+ students we serve.  We are very different and it is important to me as the Principal that our uniqueness is celebrated and respected in and out of the classroom.  Our School’s Motto to support our Positive Behavior Support In Schools initiative is to R.O.A.R. Each and Every Day.  That means to, Respect ourselves and others, take Ownership of our choices, be Accountable for our actions, and know that we are Responsible for our behavior.  The entire school community is committed to talking the talk and walking along side our students so they can reach their maximum potential.

School No. 2 is a big proponent of technology.  With the district wide TOTO (Technology One-to-One) initiative, technology is integrated into the daily routine and delivery of the curriculum.  In addition to all students in grade 3-5, all certificated staff members have a MacBook Air to enhance the learning experience for themselves and for our students.  Students in grades Pre-K – 2 have access to iPads. All students are actively engaged in many project based learning activities. We currently have a technology student club and students are exposed to coding, robotics, and online blogs to keep them abreast of the now, 22nd century skills.

Building a home-school connection is critical in a child’s educational journey.   The staff works hand in hand with our parents by creating student lead events that focus on curriculum related topics and social events. Yearly, we survey our parents and students to learn what is important to them and gather meaningful opinions, comments, and feedback on how to improve with our, school culture and academics and harassment, intimidation and bullying knowledge. The School No. 2 Parent-Teacher Association is supportive of all our activities and assists in coordinating many special activities throughout the year.

The one thing that continues to bring us together as a family is doing what is best for our students no matter what.  This is achieved by knowing that every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way.  We have high expectations for ourselves and for our students.  Once you are part of the School No. 2 community you will see how teaching and learning is transferred to students to take ownership of the learning.  We take pride in ourselves in meeting the needs of the “whole child”.
