For the past several years the Linden Public School District has used a Standards Based Grading System throughout all of its Elementary Schools. This shift from traditional grading to a standards based system in our Elementary Schools means students are assessed on mastery of specific skills rather then scored using traditional letter grades.

In education, the term standards-based refers to systems of instruction, assessment, grading, and academic reporting that are based on students demonstrating understanding or mastery of the knowledge and skills they are expected to learn as they progress through their education.

Our District utilizes a 1-4 grading system, and students are given these respective scores based on rubrics which have been created for all subject areas.
